40to40.28 – in my 40s, I want to let go of what no longer works for me, originally uploaded by earthchick.
I loved these handknit socks. I wore them out. They ended up with more holes in them than I could ever darn (not that I ever darn socks – I just hang onto them and let them make me feel guilty about not darning them). I finally tossed these, along with two other pairs of handknits socks. There’s one more pair that really should be tossed it I can make myself.
I’m not very good at letting things go, but I’m trying.
Sad! I couldn’t bear to part with mine after wearing through the heels and toes, so I ended up framing them! http://twitpic.com/4hzk3v#. Could this possibly work for yours?
I’ve cut the hole-y parts of my old handknit socks off and felted the cuffs into wristwarmers. It *is* tough to get rid of well-loved handknits, though.
I’m just casting on my third pair–a real sock novice. What’s your favorite pattern?
oh, so heartbreaking. i haven’t worn through any handknit socks yet, but i think it’ll happen this year. i don’t know what i’ll do…
will you knit some more socks?
Hand puppets are another great second life for hand knit socks!
