Looking for a high-impact low-investment gift? Well, I’m super-excited to present my second knitting design. This squishy fat-cabled cowl is the ultimate in quick little knits. Worked up in less than a skein of Malabrigo Chunky, it is a perfect first cable project. Whip out several for Christmas gifts and still have time to put your feet up and sip a cup of hot cocoa.
Seriously, y’all, this is a Fast Knit. Turn on Love Actually cast on, and you’ll be done before the credits roll. With 10 days left till Christmas, you have time to crank out several.
Awbrey was named for my mother-in-law, who just moved to Michigan from Alabama and asked for something cozy, bright, and warm. This cowl does the trick! Itβs stretchy enough to pull over your head, but the cables draw it in close to the neck to keep the chill away.
I hope you like it!
Thank you! I think I need this for ME — I love the idea of cowls, and have knit several, but they’re usually to loose. It sounds like cables might solve that problem.
It looks like just the thing for last minute gifting! Lovely work. Congratulations on your second pattern!
So pretty! And it goes great with your hair π
Love it! Adding to my queue now.
in my queue! i’m now making this instead of a dolores park cowl…more interesting π
Thank you! I was just thinking a cowl would feel nice, and quick knits at Christmas are perfect.
Hey there! Lovely work! Queued!
Great, last minute gift. Pretty, but practical! Thanks.
Lovely! I especially like it in that 2nd colorway.
umm, I want one. π I may have to learn to knit just to make this.
Also, once again, I love your hair. π
I am making this right now in Patons Chunky wool yarn. I found the yarn at Value Village for one dollar !! Thought it was a real deal–get lots of yarn there for mere pittance.
This is my second cable project, so I’m finding it rather easy !!
Thanks so much for the pattern–it’s inspiring.
PLUS—it’s bitterly cold here in Sault Ste. Marie, Canada today.
