(You knew I couldn’t continue the streak of making gifts for other people.) I finished this project nearly 4 months ago but haven’t really had a chance to wear them much until today, when wool sock weather arrived in the form of grey skies and unceasing rain. It was a yummy treat to have this pair of socks to slip into and sit inside with a cup of coffee, feeling cozy.
pattern: Embossed Leaves Socks by Mona Schmidt, from Favorite Socks
yarn: Socks that Rock, lightweight, in Moonstone, won from Ashley in her blogiversary contest last year
needles: size 0 dpns; I never knit socks on anything but size 0s because I can’t get a tight enough gauge otherwise

finished: May 19

verdict: Love them. Fun, simple pattern, gorgeous yarn. What more can be said? The details were lovely.
I thought I had found some really fun shoes to wear them with.
The shoes were cute and comfy, but it turns out that denim shoes are actually rather hard to coordinate with denim jeans. The shoes were significantly lighter than most of the denim I wear, so they looked kind of silly. So really all I did was wear them to take a few pics with the socks.
Anyway, I guess that’s really all that can be said about the socks. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to get back to putting my feet up, and maybe even do a bit of knitting.
I love the toe on this sock. Was it tricky?
Yay for handknit socks for yourself! I made myself three pairs this summer and there is no better feeling.
I love those socks — one of my favourite patterns in one of my Most Very Favourite colourways — fabulous!!
What a pretty color! And I love the shoes. Pant color wouldn’t stop me from wearing them!
Great socks! I like the shoes, too, but you’re right that it would be hard to coordinate.
Love them, that’s one of my fave sock patterns. And I happen to have that very yarn in my stash, so it’s fun to see it knit up!
Very very nice socks! I like the pattern, and love the yarn!
What a nice job – they do look like just the thing for lounging around! After seeing your version I think I might move them up in my cue !
That’s a pair of socks I’ve wanted to make; your colour is gorgeous. They look a little slouchy/thick…are they?
You might think I’m crazy, but how about overdyeing the shoes? If they’re denim, that should be cotton, and RIT would work. What’s the soles though? You might need to mask them off and dye upside down, or paint the dye on. Just a thought. Or sell them on Cheapcycle etc.
why do you do this to me??? why must you show fabulous pictures of socks AND in an earth pattern AND in Autumn?? Sigh. I’ve already picked a couple yarns from the stash but I’m waiting to buy the pattern…
what beautiful socks! i am inspired to give sock knitting another try!
Such beautiful socks! Hurray for cooler sock-wearing weather.
