knitted: for me

Embossed Vines

Embossed Vines

(You knew I couldn’t continue the streak of making gifts for other people.) I finished this project nearly 4 months ago but haven’t really had a chance to wear them much until today, when wool sock weather arrived in the form of grey skies and unceasing rain. It was a yummy treat to have this pair of socks to slip into and sit inside with a cup of coffee, feeling cozy.

pattern: Embossed Leaves Socks by Mona Schmidt, from Favorite Socks
yarn: Socks that Rock, lightweight, in Moonstone, won from Ashley in her blogiversary contest last year
needles: size 0 dpns; I never knit socks on anything but size 0s because I can’t get a tight enough gauge otherwise
cast on: May 9
finished: May 19
mods: none
verdict: Love them. Fun, simple pattern, gorgeous yarn. What more can be said? The details were lovely.

I thought I had found some really fun shoes to wear them with.

The shoes were cute and comfy, but it turns out that denim shoes are actually rather hard to coordinate with denim jeans. The shoes were significantly lighter than most of the denim I wear, so they looked kind of silly. So really all I did was wear them to take a few pics with the socks.
(notice the price tag still on the right shoes)

Anyway, I guess that’s really all that can be said about the socks. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to get back to putting my feet up, and maybe even do a bit of knitting.

  1. That’s a pair of socks I’ve wanted to make; your colour is gorgeous. They look a little slouchy/thick…are they?
You might think I’m crazy, but how about overdyeing the shoes? If they’re denim, that should be cotton, and RIT would work. What’s the soles though? You might need to mask them off and dye upside down, or paint the dye on. Just a thought. Or sell them on Cheapcycle etc.

  2. why do you do this to me??? why must you show fabulous pictures of socks AND in an earth pattern AND in Autumn?? Sigh. I’ve already picked a couple yarns from the stash but I’m waiting to buy the pattern…
