Well I finally went and did it – got myself a new home in blogland. I’ve only been plotting this move since September 2006, which I know because the automatic “Hello, world!” post that wordpress supplies was dated September 24, 2006. It has been sitting untouched ever since. For about four, maybe six, months in 2007 I also had a typepad account that I was going to move over to. Yeah, each month I paid those fees for no good reason, since I never set anything up over there….
I keep thinking I’m going to get this blog to look exactly the way I want. But I have finally realized that: a) I don’t have much in the way of design skills (or, more accurately, I have nothing in the way of design skills), and b) if I keep waiting until I do get some design skills I probably will never make the leap. So here I am, leaping. Main reasons: I want to be able to respond directly to comments (which worked fine on blogger for people who supplied their email addresses to blogger, but most commenters don’t do that), and also I’m tired of the formatting issues I was having on blogger.
So I’m still getting things set up over here. I probably have some things to learn about operating a WordPress blog (most notably, I need to quite writing pages when I mean to be writing posts). But in the meantime, I’m going to just jump right in. So if you followed me over here (and I hope you did!), then update your feeds, pull up a chair, and make yourself comfortable. While you’re at it, how about letting me know you’re here? I’ll even try my hand at responding directly to your post, I promise.
Nice digs!
If you need help moving RevGal tag stuff, let me know. I have some instructions somewhere…
Congratulations! I’ve only ever used WordPress, but I’ve never had any problems with it. Have fun!
awesome! i am hoping to make the leap myself by 2009 or so.
Cool! While you’re in the ‘making changes’ mind frame, why not register your own domain? The other thing I would definitely suggest is burning your feed at feedburner.com. It’s like spying on your blog viewers, but in a totally harmless way. Plus, you’ll probably be pleasantly surprised at how many people are actually subscribed and read your blog. I know I was. I’m linked from a blog in Brazil!
It’s really really easy, if you want to do it and need any help, let me know.
All my feeds are updated! Yay!
When I moved, I almost went to wordpress, but I was lazy and just stayed with typepad, so I guess I did not move very far! I like the new digs!
Feed is updated, I’m here. You’ll love WP! Not sure exactly how much help I’d be, but if you need it, just ask.
I happily followed you over. I love your blog and look forward to your new and exciting projects for the coming year.
i’m thinking my new blog will be a wordpress one… i love the look of wordpress blogs. thanks so much for the rapid sermon feedback.
Welcome to your new home – now I’m off to figure out how to add your feed to thunderbird….
Made it over! The new place looks lovely. 🙂
Oh, I’m excited – I love your blog! It’s the first one I ever commented on, and then you did that lovely Anne of Green Gables post highlighting my wonderful childhood (and doubtless retirement) home. Happy blog-warming!
